General Appearance -
Parti-coloured dog with a nearly square body with length slightly more than height at
shoulders. High head carriage.
Characteristics/Temperament - Friendly, good natured and alert.
Head and Skull - Length of skull about equal to muzzle with a moderate stop. Muzzle not too deep, lips tight-fitting, well filled under the eye. Nose black.
Eyes - Deep brown, almond-shaped, alert expression.
Ears - Medium sized, set just above eye level; pendant, hanging close to the cheeks. Long feathered, dark tips preferred.
Mouth - Jaws strong with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping lower teeth and set square to the jaw.
Neck - Short and well muscled.
Forequarters - Shoulders well laid back. Forelegs straight, not too heavily feathered.
Body - Strong, level back, deep chest with good spring of rib.
Hindquarters - Strong and broad, flanks well rounded, stifle slightly angulated, feathered to mid-thigh.
Feet - Small and tight. Slightly hare shaped.
Tail - Carried on level with back or slightly above; not curled, reaching the hock. Well feathered with white plume.
Gait/Movement - Jaunty and springy.
Coat - Medium long, slightly waved or straight; not curled, close fitting. Hair not too fine, well developed undercoat.
Colour - Clear orange-red coloured patches on white. White blaze preferred.
Size - Height: 35-40 cms (14-16 ins).
Faults - Any departure from the foregoing points should be regarded as a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree.
Note - Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.
